Why this exists

It started with one house — our own. Cement arriving on a Tuesday, a contractor paid part of what he was owed on a Thursday, money handed to a site manager on Friday that nobody could account for by the following week.

A notebook works for about a month. A spreadsheet works until somebody else needs to add to it. Neither answers the question that actually matters when a supplier calls: how much do I still owe you, and what exactly for?

We built BuildLedger to answer that. Then we used it on our own build for a year before showing it to anyone else.

What we believe

The numbers should be right, not just present. A contractor payment that is not tied to a specific job is a number you cannot defend in an argument. So the app refuses to record one.

The software should stop you making a mistake. You cannot pay a supplier more than they are owed. You cannot overpay a job whose measurement is final. These are not warnings you can click past — the server refuses.

Your records are yours. Export them whenever you want, delete them whenever you want. We do not sell data, and we never will.

Free should mean free. One project, every feature, no card, no countdown. Advertising in the mobile apps pays for it. If that is all you ever need, that is fine with us.

Who we are

BuildLedger is made by One Door Technologies (SMC-Pvt) Ltd, a technology company in Rawalpindi. We build software for businesses across Pakistan, and this is the product we most wanted to exist ourselves.

Where it is going

The web application is complete and in daily use. Mobile apps for iPhone and Android are next, using the same account and the same data.

If something in the product does not fit how you build, tell us. Most of what is in it came from someone saying exactly that.
